The Real Game

Core activities – 18 to 23 hours minimum

Year 7 and 8 students:

  • create wish lists of things they would like as adults;
  • assume randomly assigned life/work roles;
  • experience a “reality check” as they balance their monthly budgets, cope with unexpected chance events, and explore the balance between work and other aspects of their lives;
  • create an imaginary community, and plan group holidays taking into account individual budgets and work schedules;
  • are made redundant and learn how to adapt to change and unexpected situations;
  • use their transferable skills to enable them to create new work opportunities; and
  • leave their roles behind and imagine themselves in the future, developing their own personal life/work profiles.

Although targeted at Year 7 and 8 students, the game can be delivered to other year levels.
