Get Real Game (GRG)

Core activities - 13 to 20 hours

Year 11 and 12 students:

  • begin by investigating a range of work clusters and career gateways which takes them through a sequence of exploring education, life/work experiences and essential skills necessary for today’s world;
  • rehearse for, experiment with and learn the pros and cons of various gateway options from secondary school to their own adult futures
  • relate educational achievement and extracurricular interests to future life/work opportunities;
  • effectively locate, interpret, evaluate and use career and labour market information, resources and services;
  • explore a range of career transition gateways that lead from secondary school to diverse work, learning and community roles;
  • practice job search and work creation skills, as well as personal marketing, interviewing and time management;
  • begin development of personal action plans, outlining the goals they are setting for themselves for the first year following the successful completion of secondary school, as part of a lifelong career building/management process;
  • link to community resources and realities.

Although targeted at Year 11 and 12 students, the game can be delivered to other year levels.
