Skill Stores
Skills Stores are an initiative under the Victorian Government’s skills agenda. They provide free professional advice and information to members of the public about vocational education and training from easily accessible locations such as shopping centres or through a mobile service. They also provide people with an initial assessment of their existing skills, and referral to training organisations for recognition of prior learning which may give credit against a qualification.
Skills Stores can assist young people who are looking for a new step in their career or personal development. They will also provide a point of reference for school careers advisors.
The Skills Stores initiative, as part of the Victorian Government’s skills action plan, represents an investment of $23.46 million dollars over four years. Thirteen Skills Stores are planned for the initiative, twelve of which are now in operation and will be managed by the following organisations:
- Ballarat – BEST Community Development
- Bendigo – BEST Community Development

- East Gippsland – East Gippsland Institute of TAFE
