Regional Youth Commitments

Regional Youth Commitments (RYC) are a framework negotiated within and between all local and regional stakeholders to link and coordinate pathway and transitions support arrangements for 15-19 year olds.

The framework operates within DEECD Regions with sub regional implementation coordinated by Local Learning and Employment Networks (LLENs).

Regional Youth Commitments seek to ensure that there is continuous support for a young person to remain in or re-enter education and training and attain as a minimum Year 12 or equivalent qualifications.

A formative evaluation of RYC based on quantitative and qualitative research was undertaken in the first half of 2008.  The evaluation incorporated facilitated workshops in eight participating DEECD Regions, 20 in-depth interviews and a review of documentation provided by regions.
