The Information and Communications Technology (ICT) interdisciplinary domain of VELS has three dimensions:
ICT for Visualising Thinking - in ICT for visualising thinking, learners use ICT to develop and represent their thinking visually.
ICT for Creating - ICT for creating involves using ICT to create problem solutions and information products, ranging from simple to more complex ones.
ICT for Communicating - ICT for communicating involves learning how to use online environments and tools to research, communicate and share information and knowledge.
Victorian Essential Learning Standards(VELS)
Introduction, learning focus statements and standards for the ICT domain
Standards and progression points ICT Levels 2-6 − Standards for assessing and reporting on student achievement are introduced at Level 2. The learning focus statement for Level 1 provides advice about learning experiences that will assist students to work towards the achievement of the standards at Level 2.
Information and Communications Technology Support for the VELS ICT Domain − The Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority (VCAA) provides examples, research, advice, an ICT Domain skills and concepts chart, assessment maps and other resources to support learning in the ICT Domain.
Concepts and skills charts – Information and Communication Technology − The charts, from the VCAA, are designed to support teacher understanding of the key concepts and skills in the standards and provide guidance for planning appropriate teaching, learning and assessment activities.
Learning and teaching support
Learning and teaching support links to websites, videos, case studies, resources and tools that provide ideas and support for teachers integrating ICT into learning sequences and activities in all VELS domains. Learning and teaching support also links to resources for ICT for visualising thinking, creating and communicating.
Assessment − information, resources and tools to help teachers make consistent and balanced judgments of students’ learning and their achievement in the ICT domain of VELS.
Professional learning − information, resources and tools to help teachers locate relevant ICT professional learning.
