Focused teaching years 3-6 (ages 9-12)

​Typically for students in years 3-6, the nature and purpose of the reading tasks and the texts that they read become increasingly complex. Expectations of their ability to read and comprehend texts to learn new and challenging content are demanding, especially for students who have reading difficulties and dyslexia.

These students may need additional practise or explicit teaching of foundational skills in reading, writing, speaking and listening and increased experiences with and exposure to oral language, which all support reading comprehension.
