Braille Texts

From Term 1 2017, Victorian government and Catholic schools will use the new Victorian Curriculum F-10. Curriculum related information is currently being reviewed and may be subject to change.

For more information on the curriculum, see:
The Victorian Curriculum F–10 - VCAA

Braille texts have been developed to support teachers to administer the English Online Interview to blind students. A list of the texts available in Braille is provided below.

Module Reading Text Available in Braille Picture Storybook Text Available in Braille

Cup Cakes

Clever Max

The Beach Ball

The Lunch Boxes*

Blackie’s Holiday

Tap Dancing Star

Tiger and the Big Wind

The Golden Carambola Tree

*The Lunch Boxes is not provided as a Braille text as it relies heavily on interpretation of the illustrations and is therefore unsuitable for transfer into tactual form.

Texts for Modules 1 and 2 are available in uncontracted Braille double spaced and contracted Braille single spaced. Texts for Modules 3 and 4 are available in contracted Braille single spaced.

Some of the questions within the English Online Interview may still be unsuitable for brailling students. Where this is the case, teachers should record ‘no attempt’ within the Interview and interpret the student’s responses accordingly.
