Careers and transition resource kit

The lesson plans and supporting resources in this kit are designed to assist career educators to deliver quality programs for students.

Lessons are targeted at students from Year 6 to Year 10, but can be tailored to suit other age groups. Lessons are organised according to the career development process under the following headings

• Self awareness
• Opportunity awareness
• Decision learning
• Transition planning

Lessons are designed to be used with all young people. Activities can be modified and tailored to suit the needs of the learners and local contexts. Information on how to use the resources, see:

If using these resources with specific groups, modifications may be necessary. Some guidelines and information are provided for using the resources with:

• Koorie young people
• English as a Second Language (ESL) and Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) young people

• Young people not in employment, education or training

Worksheets for students are provided in word format so that they can be downloaded and adapted to suit the needs of particular groups.

Grants for teachers - study career education

To support our schools to deliver high-quality career education, funding is being provided over the next four years to assist more than 400 career practitioners to complete a one-year Graduate Certificate in Career Education/Career Development.
