These tools enable students to review and reflect on their knowledge, progress, and what they have learnt and achieved during a unit, topic or project. Some tools are specifically designed for early years students.
Peer-assessment of performance (PDF - 194Kb) - a tool designed to involve young students in peer-assessment and the use of criteria and a continuum.
Reflective journals (PDF - 193Kb) - a tool that allows students to reflect on and write about progress in their learning. They can identify and reflect on successes and challenges. Teachers can gain information on what the student thinks and feels in a non-threatening way.
Teamwork Pie Graph (TPG) (PDF - 200Kb) - is used for reflection and assessment of a student’s ability to work effectively as part of a team. The focus is not only task achievement, but also on contributing to, and reflecting on the learning which occurs through being part of a team. Learning Worm (PDF - 218Kb) - a simple and visual way for Early Years students to reflect on and chart their learning.
Progress Pass (PDF - 197Kb) - a small pass or ticket that students get at the end of a lesson that allows them to quickly reflect on what they have achieved and where they need assistance and helps them to record and track their own progress through a learning task or activity.
Personal Learning Goal Tool (PDF - 211Kb) - a rubric designed to provide a framework or tool for students to rate themselves against the knowledge, skills and behaviours that are critical for success in their learning.
Questionbox (Word - 319Kb) - a simple tool which enables students to review and test knowledge gained in a topic, lesson or unit. It is based on the Federal Government’s TravelSmart Chatterbox.
Hurricane Quiz (PDF - 196Kb) - is a quiz that students create at the end of a unit of work that allows them to review and consolidate knowledge gained through the unit.
