Microsoft Partners in Learning
The Department and Microsoft agree that effective professional development and technology are important for students to benefit from technology investments. Partners in Learning (PiL) works with governments and education leaders around the world at the national, state and local levels to deliver a portfolio of professional development, curricula, tools and resources designed to advance 21st century teaching, learning and digital inclusion that improve learning outcomes for every student.
The current PiL program focuses on:
- Building capacity – PiL provides resources to empower local education leaders to drive whole-school reform and prepares school systems for 21st century demands by working with policymakers and school leaders around the world to help them envision and implement educational transformation.
- Growing learning communities – PiL supports educators with capacity building tools and strategies to build communities of practice, collaborate with colleagues around the globe and think beyond the classroom.
- Expanding teaching and learning practices – Existing research tells us that investments in ICT
can have a profound impact on student learning, but that impact is mediated by many factors, the most important one being teachers.
