Regional Approved List For Expulsions

From Term 1 2017, Victorian government and Catholic schools will use the new Victorian Curriculum F-10. Curriculum related information is currently being reviewed and may be subject to change.

For more information on the curriculum, see:
The Victorian Curriculum F–10 - VCAA

Each region will have a Regional Approved List (RAL) that principals can access for support during an expulsion process. The RAL is a register of practising Principal Class Officers (but may include other people with suitable skills and capacity, at the discretion of the Regional Director) experienced in student discipline and behavioural matters.

There are two roles that a RAL member can play in an expulsion:

  • Regional Approved Support Person

  • Member of Expulsion Review Panel.

  • For information on the role of Regional Approved Support Person, see Expulsion Process

For information on the Expulsion Review Panel, see Expulsion Appeal

A member of the RAL must not perform more than one role in an expulsion process, or be from the same school as the expelling principal. For example, if a member of the RAL assisted and supported the principal during the expulsion process, the same person cannot be appointed as a member of the expulsion review panel.

All members will be required to complete suspension and expulsion training and list members will be approved by the Regional Director.
