Rural Scholarship Program

Scholarships are available for rural Victorians to complete an alternative pathway course that leads to an initial teacher education qualification.

The Rural Scholarship provides one-off financial support to rural and disadvantaged students commencing a course that provides a rigorous pathway into an undergraduate Initial Teacher Education (ITE) qualification.

A limited number of scholarships are also available for rural candidates commencing a postgradute ITE course.


Applications are invited from rural candidates who are commencing a course that leads to an initial teacher education qualification.

To be eligible for support, applicants must:

  • live in rural Victoria
  • be commencing one of the courses listed below
  • demonstrate an interest in working as a teacher in a Victorian government school.
