Effective Mentoring Program

Further develop the mentoring culture in your school by encouraging your experienced and enthusiastic teachers to register for the two-day Effective Mentoring Program.

The program is co-delivered by the Victorian Institute of Teachers and EdPartnerships in collaboration with the Department.

The Victorian Institute of Teaching’s component focuses on building knowledge of the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers, using the Inquiry approach to gather evidence to fulfil the requirements for registration.  EdPartnerships deliver content on the skills and knowledge fundamental to mentoring.  To find out further information, go to Mentor Training for Experienced School Teachers

Further resources

Providing a comprehensive induction is essential to support new and beginning teachers in the transition to the teaching profession or a new school.

New teachers need to understand the culture and ethos of their school, their professional obligations and be supported to develop their teaching practice and integrate into their school's professional learning communities. Assisting teachers at the beginning of their careers helps build teaching excellence and improve student outcomes, improves teacher wellbeing and resilience and retains teachers in the profession.
