The Department of Education and Training administers more than 25 different student scholarships that award up to 220 individual scholarship awards each year.
These scholarships help support students and families to cover the costs of continuing education and to engage in further study at senior secondary and tertiary levels.
Scholarships are available for students from Year 4 through to Year 11 as well as for Year 12 students planning to enter tertiary studies. Eligibility for scholarships is generally based on a student's financial need, academic results and their involvement in school and community activities. The majority of the scholarships are only available to Victorian government school students, however for some scholarships, students from all school sectors can apply.
Most of the scholarships are one-off payments between $300 to $1,000, while other scholarships that are paid annually over a number of years range from $1,000 per year to over $2,500 per year.
