Recreation

From Term 1 2017, Victorian government and Catholic schools will use the new Victorian Curriculum F-10. Curriculum related information is currently being reviewed and may be subject to change.

Recreation covers a diverse and wide range of work places, including gymnasiums, swimming pools, athletic tracks, sports ovals, theatres, dance studios, libraries, community, cultural and recreational events.

Some of the people involved in recreation will be volunteers, but many offer occupations such as personal trainers, pool attendants, lighting and sound technicians, traffic controllers, ticket sellers, security staff, ushers and the installation of temporary seating and other required structures.

In this video, we look at gymnasiums and the occupational health and safety issues that may arise. Students are encouraged to watch this video prior to going on work experience or structured workplace learning in the recreation industry.
