Department of Environment and Primary Industries – The authoritative body that monitors how legislation is being implemented in Victoria.

DEPI Animal welfare – Contains information relating to wildlife.

National Health and Medical Research Council – Responsible for raising the standard of individual and public health. It does this by fostering health and medical research and training and by monitoring ethical issues relating to health throughout Australia.

Australian and New Zealand Council for the Care of Animals in Research and Teaching – Contains information for animal carers, animal ethics committee members and scientists as well as other interested parties, including schools.

Animal Ethics Infolink – A NSW site providing general information about legislation in other states and countries, and links to many sites with information promoting the humane care and use of animals for scientific purposes.

Australian Veterinary Association – The professional organisation representing veterinarians across Australia. A 'Find a Vet' database is a feature of this site.

Responsible Pet Ownership Program – is aimed at age 4 and above, supporting primary schools and early childhood settings (4-5 year old children) to educate children in the knowledge and understanding needed for responsible pet ownership and animal care

RSPCA Victoria – The Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Victoria) is a non-government, community based charity that works to prevent cruelty to animals by actively promoting their care and protection

Animals in Early Childhood Settings​ (docx - 374.6kb) – a DEECD resource provided to assist early childhood services who choose to include animals as part of their program

Chicken Adoption Form (docx - 211.13kb) – a form established by the Victorian Schools Animal Ethics Committee that primary and secondary schools are required to use if they decide to adopt out chickens following their use for teaching purposes. This form is also recommended when adoption of chickens is being considered in schools where chickens have not been used for teaching purposes and in early childhood settings

Department of Environment and Primary Industries - Zoonoses Information – information on a range of zoonoses (animal diseases that may also affect humans) and preventative measures.

Aquarium Industries ‘ Fish School’ – an interactive learning tool on caring for fish. Website also includes a range of fish care sheets.
