Selective entry high schools provide an educationally enriched environment for high achieving, academically gifted students. 

There are currently four selective entry high schools in Victoria for students in Years 9−12: Melbourne High (boys only), The Mac.Robertson Girls' High (girls only), Nossal High School (co-educational) and Suzanne Cory High School (co-educational).

A centralised selection process is used to admit students to the four selective entry schools. Students need to sit a common entrance examination on 15 June 2013 in order to be considered for the 2014 school year.
