Distance education programs are designed for students who cannot attend school or participate in regular classes—this may be due to travel, illness, location or those students finding school difficult.
Students attending schools that don’t offer subjects they need, or would like, to study may also enrol in distance education subjects.
Distance education classes are carried out by individual teachers, who deliver classes to students online and also through the use of printed materials and visual aids sent to the students’ homes.
Students must meet certain eligibility criteria to enrol in distance education courses.
For more information on distance education and student eligibility, contact the Distance Education Centre Victoria.
