In 1946, funds were bequeathed by Robert Sterne Marr to provide a scholarship in perpetuity for the promotion and encouragement of education in Victoria.
The money is paid to the student's school for essential educational items for which parents are normally expected to pay or pay the school to provide. These essential items do not include voluntary contributions.
At the end of the year the remaining balance is paid to the parent/guardian for the benefit of the student.
