George Garibaldi Turri Scholarships


Scholarship details

  • Valued at:
    • $635 - Year 11 students
    • $1295 - Year 12 students
    • $1945 - 1st year university students
    • $2140 - 2nd to 4th year university students
  • Available for one or more years, subject to satisfactory academic progress
  • Awarded to 30 students

Who can apply?
  • Students completing VCE in 2009 in a Victorian government secondary school
  • Students commencing full-time course in teacher training on achieving VCE
  • Students in good health

Selection criteria
  • Student's Year 11, Year 12 or university results
  • Student's involvement in school and community activities
  • Family’s or student's financial circumstances
  • Student's application supported by school council president, principal and assistant principal

  • Students awarded this scholarship in previous years need to re-apply by faxing results to (03) 9637 3607 by 28 February 2010.
  • Amount adjusted annually in line with Commonwealth Retail Price Index.

John and Maud Askew Scholarships II

  • Students completing Year 11 in 2009 in a Victorian secondary school
  • Students whose parents are members of the police force, police pensioners or police widows

  • Student's involvement in school and community activities

Further information
  • Senior Constable Maurice Moore was tragically killed while on duty. This scholarship is awarded in memory of his bravery.

United World Colleges Scholarships


United World Colleges was founded in 1962. It is an organisation dedicated to the promotion of world peace through the education of young people. Students in their last two years of secondary school are chosen from over eighty countries to travel and attend one of the twelve UWC colleges. The main objective is to select outstanding young people from the maximum variety of national and social backgrounds.

Students are assessed on their personal merit and potential, irrespective of race, creed, colour, gender, family background or ability to pay. The first Australian student attended a UWC in 1971 and since then 300 Australians have attended 8 of the colleges.

Closing date is 2 April 2010.
