For scholarships that the Department of Education and Early Childhood
Development administers, a student must apply for a scholarship at the same
year level that they were studying in
2011, eg.
a student in Year 8 in
2011
would apply for a Year 8 scholarship.
Students must register for these scholarships. All applications must be made
online. Students who applied last year must reregister for this round of
scholarships.
Students will need their 'end of year' results to apply for a scholarship.
Students may apply for more than one scholarship.
Students must provide all the information that is requested of them in the
application form and click on the 'Submit' button to lodge an
application. Failure to do so will result in the application being invalid.
Please note: The website is in the public domain,
therefore it can be accessed from any internet provider. However, if a primary
or secondary student uses a school email address to apply, they must apply for
the scholarship while the school is not closed for holidays or else they will
not be able to access two of the three emails that will be sent to them during
the course of the scholarship process. These three emails provide:
• confirmation of registration
• confirmation of submitted applications
• confirmation that the principal has verified their
end of year results.
Year 11 and 12 students must either record a Victorian Curriculum Assessment (VCAA)
study score for VCE Unit 2 and 4 results or Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory for VCAL subjects.
Principals must verify the 'end of year' results for primary and secondary
students.
Applications close for students on
Friday, 17 February 2012. Principals have
from
Monday, 5 December 2011
until
Saturday, 3 March 2012
to verify the results.
Successful scholarship winners will be notified individually.
Unsuccessful applications will be notified by email.
Scholarships will be awarded by 30 June
2012.
Please note: Students must either have a Youth Allowance card
or their parents/guardians be recipients of the Education Maintenance Allowance
to qualify for a scholarship that has financial need as a selection criterion.
For your convenience please print out the following information. To apply for a
scholarship you will need to perform the following:
-
Click on Register (on the
menu bar) - You will need to register with a user name and password.
Please note: a user name can be the student's name or any name you wish to use.
You should not use an email address as a user name.
You can enter the same email address for more than one student registration (i.e. if you have more than one student in the family that you wish to register and you have one email address).
A registration confirmation will be sent to your email address. (It is very important that
your email address is correct and does not change).
IF YOU DO NOT RECEIVE THE REGISTRATION CONFIRMATION EMAIL, YOU MAY HAVE ENTERED AN INCORRECT EMAIL ADDRESS.
Follow step 2 to log in, where you can correct the email address. Alternatively, send an email to the address at the bottom of this page, quoting your name and the correct email address, and requesting a confirmation email.
Make sure you note down and keep
your user name and password for future reference. Once you have registered
move on to step 2.
-
Click on Apply Online (on the
menu bar) – Key in your user name and your password. Click on login. This will open the screen to record your personal profile
information.
-
Complete as much personal information as you can, then click on the next step button at the bottom of the screen. Record your end of year results. These
results will automatically be saved.
-
Click on the next step button at the bottom of the screen. Information is required on community and
school activities as a criterion for each scholarship. The exceptions to this
are:
- Dammery Educational Trust Scholarships
- Victorian Association for Deserted Children Scholarship
- Ella Donald Fine Arts Scholarship
- Alice Jennings Scholarship (which only requires community information)
- Tertiary Scholarships:
- Doris Evans Scholarship
- Charlotte Wilson
-
Click on the next step button at the bottom of the screen. The appropriate application form for each
scholarship can be accessed by clicking on the Apply for this Scholarship button which sits below each
scholarship description.
-
Complete any information required for the Scholarship, then click the View your Application button.
Make sure all the information is accurate.
-
When you are satisfied that you have recorded all the requested information,
click on the Submit Application button.
-
Each time you submit a scholarship application, you should receive an email confirming your application.
You can also see that your application has been recorded by logging on and stepping through the pages until you get to the Scholarships list (step 4). Those you have applied for will be listed first and will show the text Application received, thank you.
-
You may then proceed to apply for another scholarship.
-
If you happen to click on the Home button when applying for
a scholarship, you will be able to return to the page that you were working
on, by clicking on Apply Online
on the menu bar and logging in again with your user name and password.
-
You will be able to apply for another scholarship until
Friday, 17 February 2012, as your end of
year results are constant for all your scholarships.
-
You can at any time make amendments to your personal profile information, activities and referees, and academic results (if they have not been verified).
-
Finally, you need to contact your Principal and request that they verify the end of year results that you have recorded.
You will need to tell them your name and the address you entered into your personal details.
(This verification process only applies to primary and secondary students.
Tertiary students will need to fax in an official copy of their end of year
results to the fax no. shown on the Contact Us page, attention "Coordinator of Student
Scholarships", so that their results can be verified.)
