curriculum framework

In line with the philosophy of the Curriculum and Standards Framework, safe@work encourages students to become self-motivated and confident in their approach to learning.

safe@work is directly relevant to secondary school courses that specify occupational health and safety outcomes. It is particularly relevant to the increasing number of students undertaking courses where learning in the work place is part of the curriculum.

safe@work enables students to learn about occupational health and safety before they undertake work experience and structured work place learning. It also provides teachers with information to use to meet Curriculum and Standards Framework outcomes related to occupational health and safety.

Relevance to secondary school courses

Students involved in Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) studies, Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (VCAL) and Vocational Education and Training (VET) in the VCE, and who undertake structured work place learning, include occupational health and safety as part of their program. Students involved in the above programs can undertake the website activities to support their occupational health and safety learning.

Students undertaking structured work place learning are required to complete the appropriate OHS module from their VET qualification before commencing a work placement. The material on this website may be used to support the delivery of OHS material for students undertaking structured work place learning.
