Anywhere, anytime learning is a reality for students. Is anywhere, anytime professional learning a reality for teachers? In this keynote presentation Jason Smith discussed the role of technology enabled professional learning in equipping teachers for the way students engage and learn. Jason explored:

  • what has TeacherTube has taught us about the characteristics of quality online teacher content
  • what makes a high value teacher produced video
  • what aspects teachers rate highly
  • how teachers can leverage Web 2.0 technologies to enable professional collaboration and interaction, connecting and sharing
  • students as genuine partners in the learning experience, the creative student voice in the online world, and partnering with students in the co-construction of pedagogy – how teachers are taking on these challenges.

Jason is the co-founder of TeacherTube, LLC. TeacherTube.com is an online community for sharing instructional media. It seeks to fill a need for a more educationally focused, safe venue for teachers, schools, and home learners. It is a site to provide anytime, anywhere professional development with teachers teaching teachers.

Jason has been a teacher, middle school principal, high school principal and district superintendent in public schools. He currently serves as Superintendent of schools in Melissa Independent School District, Texas.
