Virtual Learning Communities

Increasing connectedness through the use of the internet and Web 2.0 tools has redefined the concept of community. There is an increased use of social networking tools and online spaces for truly immersive forms of learning which is achieving a level of collaboration that is erasing traditional confines and borders. This project’s VCE Physics Unit 3 and 4 Virtual Learning Community links all students across Victoria with experienced educators, members of the Australian Institute of Physics Education Sub-Committee and textbook authors. Participants learnt how the initiative created opportunities for students to interact with each other, educators and knowledgeable adults in authentic learning experiences.
