Research eLert is an electronic newsletter which aims to highlight current educational issues and support evidence-based decision making across the education sector. Each newsletter features themes relevant to schools and other education providers.

- Research eLert - March 2012 (PDF - 480Kb): This edition discusses the benefits and challenges of sustainability education and provides research and strategies for practitioners to inform curriculum and pedagogical decisions.
- Research eLert - December 2011 (PDF - 698Kb): This edition contains examples of teachers, early childhood educators and students researching their teaching and learning practices. It also includes local and international research that identifies the benefits and challenges associated with these growing practitioner-led practices.
- Research eLert - September 2011 (PDF - 782Kb): This edition features latest research and information on evidence-based partnership programs that promote and support learning, care and development. From a lifelong learning perspective, this edition includes findings from Early Years interventions, pathways of learning for students and parents, and ways to support the most disadvantaged or vulnerable members of society.

- Research eLert - July 2011 (PDF - 1.2Mb): This edition presents the research of Internationalising Education through its three interrelated areas: languages education, multicultural and global citizenship education and international education. An internationalised education system provides opportunities for students, teachers, principals and the education system as a whole to engage in two way exchanges of knowledge, people and services.
- Research eLert - March 2011 (PDF - 6.5Mb): This edition shares practices from Victorian schools and new findings from local and international research. Teachers are building data literacy to assess the needs and achievements of students and themselves. Through this they are challenging their familiar and established methods of working to explore new knowledge, practice and ways of collaborating in virtual and real worlds.
- Research eLert - December 2010 (PDF - 4.1Mb): This edition focuses on the topic of physical and virtual learning spaces and the links to student learning outcomes. A literature review commissioned by the Department provides information on the current research into the connections between learning spaces and student learning outcomes.
- Research eLert - October 2010 (PDF - 2.8Mb): This edition focuses on a body of research policy and practice aimed at improving outcomes for young Indigenous people. It includes links to major evidence-based reports and resources for schools and teachers to improve the educational outcomes for Australian Indigenous students. There are also Wannik Digital Stories that illustrate successful initiatives arising from action packages through the Victorian Government’s Wannik Education Strategy for Koorie Students.
- Research eLert – July/August 2010 (PDF - 1.5Mb): To coincide with the launch of the Department's Ultranet, this edition focuses on digital technologies including learning platforms, Web 2.0 technologies and cloud computing culture.
- Research eLert - May 2010 (PDF - 654Kb): This issue focuses on research that is informing improvements in the learning and development of all children and young people, and includes snapshots from research studies presented at the Research into 0 – 18 learning and development forum.
- Research eLert - March 2010 (PDF - 240Kb): Topics include home-to-school transitions, engaging students in science through university-school partnerships, the cost of low educational performance, an update on the Young Learners' project, and a review of the publication Readicide.
- Research eLert - December 2009 (PDF - 190Kb): Topics include the effectiveness of an ICT-rich learning environment, the impact of support staff in schools, rewarding teachers, an update on the Literacy Nexus project, and the link between repetition and memory.
