The Floating World Project

The Floating World project is an exciting new partnership between the department and the National Gallery of Victoria (NGV), that aims to:
- map how practitioners use the Floating World resources in classrooms across Victoria
- connect teachers, students, curators, other practitioners in an online community of practice
- share its stories and experiences across the wider education community
- evaluate its impact on teacher practice and student outcomes
- develop recommendations for policy-makers on scaling up innovation in education.
Sponsored by Multimedia Victoria’s Broadband Innovation Fund, the Floating World project involves approximately 20 schools, 45 teachers and 500 students using the NGV’s innovative Pictures of the Floating World online resource. A competition of student work will be held in late November, with the project’s final report due in early April, 2010.
