2006 Education Research Forum - May Sweeney

A Curriculum for Excellence - May Sweeney, 9 November 2006

The Research Branch hosted a forum, on 9 November 2006, with May Sweeney.

May Sweeney is the National Co-ordinator for A Curriculum for Excellence, a program coordinated by Learning and Teaching Scotland.

The purpose of the program is to improve the learning, attainment and achievement of children and young people in Scotland. Also, it's about pupils achieving on a broad front, not just in terms of examinations, by ensuring children and young people are acquiring the full range of skills and abilities relevant to growing, living and working in the contemporary world.

A report entitled A Curriculum for Excellence - The Curriculum Review Group is available. The report has created a unified set of purposes and principles for the whole curriculum in Scotland, throughout the early years, primary school and secondary school.
