Support Services - Early Childhood

Early Childhood Intervention Services

Support and services for children with disabilities or developmental delays and their families are tailored to meet the individual needs of the child in their everyday experiences and activities, and are provided by the Department through the Regional Specialist Children's Services team, Early Childhood Intervention Services team and by community service organisations and agencies funded by the Department.

We provide a holistic approach to intervention, which includes special education, therapy, counselling, service planning and coordination, and assistance and support with accessing services such as kindergarten and child care.

The overall aim of these services is to provide parents and families with the knowledge, skills and support to meet the needs of their child and to optimise the child's development and ability to participate in family and community life. All services are provided using a family-centred approach, recognising the importance of working in partnership with the family.
