Heath and Wellbeing

In the Western Metropolitan Region there are a range of measures in place to ensure children and young people have proper access to health, wellbeing, safety and support services.

We provide support to schools, families and students through:

In addition, the Western Metropolitan Region provides professional development opportunities for Student Welfare Coordinators in secondary schools, Primary Welfare Officers in high-needs primary schools and Primary and Secondary School Nurses, as well as in relation to the Program for Students with Disabilities (PSD) and the Language Support Program.

The Western Metropolitan Region Blueprint for School Improvement identifies the following key focus areas and improvement strategies in terms of developing positive learning environments and high levels of student engagement and wellbeing:

  • Leadership practice: build and maintain a positive, effective and orderly learning environment in every school and focus the work of School Support Service Officers (SSSO) on targeted service delivery at the network and school level.
  • Teacher practice: develop the capabilities of every teacher to build and maintain a positive environment for learning in the classroom and school.
  • Use data at every level (region, network school and classroom) to track learning and inform the action that needs to be taken.

If you have any concerns, they can be raised with the coordinator, assistant principal and/or school principal.
