Early Years Learning
The Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework (VEYLDF) is being developed by the Victorian Curriculum Assessment and Assessment Authority in partnership with the Office for Children and Early Childhood Development and the Victorian Children’s Council.
This framework will be closely aligned with the National Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) developed in partnership with the Commonwealth, State and Territory Governments. It will be linked to the National Quality Standards to deliver nationally consistent and quality early childhood education and underpin universal access to quality early learning in the year before formal schooling.
The VEYLDF will link with the Victorian Essential Learning Standards (VELS) to create a description of the early learning and development of children birth to eight years. It will identify a shared vision for children’s learning and support and guide the work of professionals involved with children from birth into the early years of school.
The VEYLDF will be developed by July 2009 with trialling and evaluation to follow and full implementation by the start of the 2010 school year.
