Undertaking Teacher Professional Leave
What kind of Teacher Professional Leave can be undertaken?
TPL gives teachers time, either individually or as part of a team, to explore how teaching capability and teacher reflection on practice can be improved using the e5Instructional Model. The e5 Instructional Model is a framework for defining what high quality instruction looks like in the Victorian government school system.
As a professional learning experience for teachers, TPL is endorsed practitioner research and developmental learning at one of three levels:
Teacher-designed – an individual teacher or team of teachers identify an e5 learning problem / question / area of interest, investigate ways of addressing that issue, evaluate what has been learned and act on the implications of that learning.
School-designed – the e5 learning problem is identified at school level, based on the professional learning needs of teaching staff in relation to the model. A teacher or team of teachers investigate ways of addressing this problem, and evaluate what has been learned in order that the school may act upon the implications of that learning.
Network designed – a professional learning need is identified at network level for an individual or team of teachers from one or more schools to work on an e5 investigation; the focus and purpose of the research responding to the need(s) of those invited to take part.
