Evaluation of the Teacher Professional Leave Initiative
An external evaluation of TPL is being conduct by Success Works and they will continue to work with TPL teachers in 2012, developing a selection of case studies and conducting surveys through their work with TPL teachers and their principals.
Evaluation of the initiative has shown that the TPL experience is most successful where teachers:
- selected the learning focus as part of an issue/challenge for their own teaching practice
- improved their knowledge and skills
- increased their ability to reflect on their teaching practice
- increased their familiarity and confidence with the e5 Instructional Model
- identified that their TPL professional learning involved using e5 to reflect on teaching practice
- improved their classroom practice and teaching performance
- increased their level of professional conversations
- identified a difference in student learning as a result of their professional learning
- measured the impact of the professional learning upon student learning
- received adequate support and resources throughout their TPL.
"I've loved having this opportunity to expand my knowledge, work with a team and have the time to reflect and analyse my own practice”. Participant
