Abilities Based Learning and Education Support (ABLES)
ABLES is a new teaching, learning and support approach for students with disabilities. It aims to improve the learning outcomes of all Victorian students with disabilities and additional learning needs.
ABLES enables students to be assessed on the basis of their abilities and will provide teachers with explicit guidance material and resources that will enable them to effectively plan and teach for students based on their individual learning needs.

Students with Disabilities

Student Support Group Guidelines and Templates - Ongoing Student Support Groups (SSGs) should operate in Victorian government schools for all students with disabilities. A SSG is a co-operative partnership involving parents, school representatives and professionals that ensures coordinated support for each student's educational needs through the development of specific educational goals and a tailored educational program.

Program for Students with Disabilities guidelines - The Program for Students with Disabilities (PSD) provides additional support within the Student Resource Package for eligible students with disabilities in regular and specialist schools.

Assessment and Referral Processes - An Assessment Service is provided by the Department to support PSD applications on behalf of students in the categories of Intellectual Disability and Severe Language Disorder with Critical Educational Needs.
- The Program for Students with Disabilities Management System (PSDMS) - supports processes associated with applications and budget production. This is a secure site and can only be accessed by registered users. Technical assistance is available through the DEECD Service Gateway or by telephone 1800 641 943.
- Supplementary Programs and Home Based Educational Support Programs exist under the Program for Students with Disabilities to assist schools support students with specific needs.
