The Ultranet is a statewide, secure site that students, parents and teachers can access via the internet. It provides a new online learning space and more opportunities for information sharing across the Victorian government school system.
The Ultranet provides teachers with access to information, resources and tools so they can implement a continuous cycle of curriculum planning and delivery, including accessing student data, planning, teaching and assessing within an online environment. Access to rich data about each student’s achievements, enables the curriculum to be differentiated. School leaders and teachers can readily collaborate within and across schools, sharing resources and curriculum plans. Students can capture evidence of their own learning and reflect on their progress. Information about children’s learning progress can build up over time, creating an ongoing record, which will travel with them from year to year and school to school.
Parents’ access to the Ultranet provides another way for them to support their child at school. They can view information that will help them keep up-to-date with their child’s learning. Over time parents will see test results, teacher feedback, homework activities, attendance and timetables.
The Ultranet can bring together the range of digital technologies including access to digital resources, eduSTAR software and Web 2.0 tools to provide personalised, quality learning opportunities for students through improved student engagement, collaboration and communication.
The Ultranet Support Site has an extensive range of resources to assist implementation and professional learning, including:
The Department website also has a range of information that parents can be directed to prior to accessing the Ultranet.
