The following information will provide key information, advice and assistance on a range of issues including:

Emergency and Security Management files contain various notices and handbooks.

Emergency Management Plan

Principals of all schools are required to maintain a current emergency management plan that details the school's response to a range of incidents such as fire, flood, natural occurrences and man made occurrences that put the school, students, staff or visitors at risk (including school activities or camps). The plan should provide guidelines for all incidents and events. It should describe how staff are to be allocated responsibilities when such events occur and list what their responsibilities are.

Once competed, the School Emergency Management Plan will describe the actions to be taken during and following incidents in relation to:

  1. Dealing with an Emergency
  2. Managing Communications
  3. Trespassers in Schools
  4. Contagious/Infectious Disease
  5. Student health

All schools have also been issued a comprehensive Managing School Emergencies manual for use in planning and responding to emergencies.

New principals are also encouraged to consider the importance of performing a regular review of the School Emergency Management Plan.
