Department Professional Learning Provider Panel
Background
The Department of Education and Early Childhood Development (DEECD) is a significant contractor of professional learning provider services. Across DEECD, a broad range of professional learning programs are procured to develop the knowledge and skills of staff employed in schools, early childhood settings and regional and central offices.
In December 2010, the School Improvement Division of the DEECD established a non-compulsory Bastow Institute of Educational Leadership Professional Learning Provider Panel.
The following four Panel categories were established:
- Category A: General Leadership
- Category B: Coaching / Mentoring
- Category C: Early Childhood Development
- Category D: Post-graduate.
Successful providers were appointed to one or more of the Panel categories and are eligible to quote for a learning service in a Panel category.
The Panel has provided the Department with:
- a consistent, structured mechanism by which to undertake quotes;
- greater flexibility to respond to workforce demand;
- improved information management, monitoring and reporting; and
- reduced administrative costs, which can be invested in purchasing additional learning projects for educators and managers.
Due to its success, the Panel has now been extended to the entire Department.
This extension involved two parts:
Stage 1 - A Panel Refresh which enabled:
- providers not on the Panel to apply for existing Panel categories; and
- current Panel members to apply for categories for which they have not yet been appointed (including categories for which they were unsuccessful).
Stage 2 - A Panel Expansion, which involved the creation of three new Panel categories for which current Panel members and non-Panel members applied.
- Category E: Student Wellbeing and Engagement of Students
- Category F: Students with a Disability or Additional Needs
- Category G: Teacher Practice (inc. VET) and Education Support
