Coaching for Impact

Coaching for individual principals and collegiate groups

What is the initiative about?

Through working with a skilled professional coach, Coaching for Impact assists principals and Collegiate Groups to build their leadership capacity. The initiative is designed to challenge principals to think of new ways to enhance their leadership capabilities and their role as effective leaders of school improvement.;

The key role of the coach is to help principals and collegiate groups to gain clarity about themselves and their capabilities – both individual and collective. Coaching assists school leaders to identify development goals and identify areas for further capability development.

Participating principals and collegiate groups will commence coaching in the second half of Term 2, 2012.

The option of receiving coaching on a face-to-face basis or blended with coaching via telephone or Skype will be offered.

The goals of the Coaching for Impact initiative are to:

  1. Provide participants with valuable and personalised one-on-one coaching over an extended period to help address key strategic needs within their school.
  2. Enable participants to develop a deeper understanding of themselves as effective leaders.
  3. Assist principals to develop strategies to enhance their leadership capabilities and encourage reflective learning.
  4. Assist principals to develop strategies to support their own and staff wellbeing.

The collegiate group size will be limited to a maximum of six people. Experience in team coaching has shown that this is the largest number of “coachees” who can be adequately served by a single coach. Larger groups will not be accepted into the initiative.

Any individual principal or collegiate group considering this initiative must be prepared to commit to the initiative. All participants need to be prepared to engage fully with the coaching experience.
