'Reading has taken me on such a journey. Beginning at first grade with picture books, then onto cartoons and comics, followed by set literature for reading at high school. After that, travel meant you had to read and write so that you could understand and reply to letters people wrote to you. Sporting magazines and adventure novels were mixed up with my favourite non-fiction. Faxes, emails, and last but not least, text messages are languages of their own.
Reading is such a gift. Even with all the technology at our fingertips today there's nothing better than the peaceful, thoughtful moments spent between the covers of a great book.'
