Which character from a book would you most like to meet or to be?

I’d like to be a character who is brave, courageous, able to succeed and triumph over huge obstacles, and one who becomes better because of the struggle. That’s why I’d like to be the Very Hungry Caterpillar.

Where is the best place to read a book?

Anywhere.

What do you love about reading?

I love getting lost in a book. I love being swept away by a story. I love the way books make me desperate to turn a page to discover what happens next. I love the way books make me laugh, make me gasp, make me cry and make me eager to pick up another one.

What were you like at school?

I loved reading and writing and playing sport. Not all at the same time, usually.

What are your hobbies?

Reading (!). Playing computer games. Cooking.

Do you have any pets or kids?

I have two wonderful daughters, and I have a cat and a dog.

What is your most treasured possession?

I have a brass kaleidoscope. When I look through it, the whole world is different.

What book would you take to a deserted island?

Lord of the Rings. I love that book, and I could always use it to teach myself elvish if I got bored with desert island life.

What is one interesting fact about yourself that nobody else would know?

I won two best and fairest awards at West Brunswick Amateur Football Club.

Your words of wisdom to students completing the Premiers' Reading Challenge?

There is a book for everyone, a book that will excite you, delight you and show you that reading is wonderful. If you haven’t found it yet, it’s waiting out there for you!

Whipper Snapper

by Felice Arena

After a terrible accident, Gus can't believe he's survived.  But has he? He's woken up in the body of an old man and his real body is unconscious in intensive care.  Now he's got a seventy-year-old wife, really bad taste in clothes, and everyone thinks he's crazy.

Why Felice loves reading…

Reading for me is like organised daydreaming. It puts me instantly into another world where I can feel and experience something new. That's why I love it!
