Victorian government schools are a significant user of energy and water, accounting for a large percentage of the Victorian Government’s energy usage at an annual cost of around $36 million.
However there are many simple ways that schools can reduce their environmental impact, improve energy, water and waste efficiency, and save money.
This website outlines the Victorian and Commonwealth Government programs and services currently available for Victorian government schools and also provides simple everyday tips for students and teachers to reduce the amount of energy used by their school and save money on their school’s energy bills.
The Department is committed to reducing energy consumption in schools and raising awareness amongst students, teachers and the community about sustainable design and use of buildings.
