Cycling

For the purposes of these guidelines, cycling refers to outdoor adventure activities undertaken by students on bicycles on formed roads or tracks, usually beyond the school grounds.  It does not include competition events.

Guidelines for safety with regard to cycling in schools are provided in the Victorian Government Schools Reference Guide, section 4.4.5.5.1.  In addition, school staff should also refer to the support document Administrative Guidelines for Traffic Safety Education (PDF - 790Kb), Chapter 4, Bicycle Safety Education.
