The management of school operations in Victorian government schools requires a range of policy and procedures. This area provides resources that will assist in the day to day management in the school system.
School services
Guidelines for community use of school facilities − guidelines and fact sheets to support assessing requests for community use of school facilities.
Student Transport − information about student transport costs, availability and government assistance
Interpreting and translating − services are available free, within guidelines, to government schools. The services ensure that parents and guardians who require an interpreter have access to school information, and are better able to communicate with schools
Healthy Canteen Kit − contains the following resources to assist schools to develop healthy canteens and other food services
School Contract Cleaning − information for school management on how to engage cleaners. Also provides information for contract cleaners on how they can become eligible to provide cleaning services to Victorian Government Schools
Care and Use of Animals in Schools − information for school management on using animals as part of teaching, including instructions on how to use the Animal Use Approval process. Information on this site will help your school fulfil the requirements of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act and the Australian Code of Practice for the Care and Use of Animals for Scientific Purposes
Student administration
International Students in Schools − provides information on student administration to the 160 Victorian Government Schools accredited to accept international students.
Student health and safety
Safety Guidelines (for education outdoors) − detailed policies and guidelines for schools undertaking outdoor adventure activities
Informal Relative Carers − the Office of the Child Safety Commissioner has initiated the Informal Relative Carer’s Statutory Declaration which can be used by a Carer where a student is not living with a parent/guardian but is living in an informal care arrangement with a Carer.
Financial support administration
School Start Bonus − provides $300 per annum financial assistance to families for expenditure on school and sporting uniforms, school bags, books and related expenses.
School communications and marketing
The School Communications Toolkit − offers ideas and advice to support schools in their communication with parents and the local community. It includes fresh insights, tips, pro formas, checklists, communications policy information and case studies.
Camps and excursions
City Kids Experiencing Country Life – an initiative to support Year 6 students in metropolitan areas to participate in tailored programs in rural and regional Victoria. These are 3-night/4-day programs which will run each term starting in Term 3, 2012 until Term 1, 2016.
