Schools Communications Toolkit
The Schools Communications Toolkit is designed to stimulate and encourage schools to consider different approaches to your communication planning.
In recognising that schools prefer to learn from each other, examples of best practice and successful communications are provided in the form of school case studies throughout the kit.
The School Communications Toolkit also provides tools and templates to assist schools in improving their communications.

- Tool 2: Getting the most out of your events (PDF - 253Kb) - contains information and templates to help you plan, promote and run events for your school.
- Tool 3: Developing a newsletter (PDF - 520Kb) - contains information and templates on school newsletters, including samples of effective writing and layout, ideas for stories, and sourcing feedback for your newsletter.
- Tool 4: Building your web presence (PDF - 250Kb) - contains information and templates on school websites, including how to get started, developing web content, website structure, keeping children and staff safe, and other useful web resources.
- Tool 5: Working with the media (PDF - 377Kb) - provides advice to help schools build positive relationships with their local media. It includes tips on how to contact the media, story ideas, developing a media kit and advertising.
- Tool 6: Connecting with your local community (PDF - 253Kb) - contains information and templates to help schools understand their local community, ideas for working with your local community, and developing your Annual Report to the school community.
- Tool 7: Writing a communications plan (PDF - 110Kb) - contains information to help schools write a communications plan. A sample School Communications Plan /Action Planner is included.
