'Like' school groups were developed to enable schools to allow for the composition of their student populations in assessing their performance.
Victoria schools have been divided into 9 groups based on the demographic background of their students. The groups are identified by the proportion of students for whom the main language spoken at home is not English, and the proportion of students who receive the Education Maintenance Allowance (EMA) or Commonwealth Youth Allowance. Further details about 'like' school groups are available in the appendices of each of our Benchmark publications.
