Revised Self Assessment Framework

In 2009, the emphasis will be on strengthening all schools' P&D Culture beyond the accreditation standard. In line with principles of continuous improvement it is expected that schools will continue to enhance each of the five elements.

The revised Self Assessment Framework (PDF - 827Kb) is now available:

  • As a vehicle to support the implementation of the e5 Instructional Model (PDF - 322Kb); and
  • In response to the request from schools and regions for further guidance to progress P&D Culture post accreditation.

Schools, regions and stakeholders will have the opportunity to provide feedback on the revised Framework through:

P&DC data in the School Level Report

In line with the principles of continuous improvement and internal accountability it is expected that all schools will continue to strengthen their P&D Culture beyond the accreditation standard. The new P&D Culture report in the School Level Report (SLR) assists schools to monitor their P&D Culture.

Schools can compare the 2008 Staff Opinion Survey (SOS) data against the P&D Culture threshold (black line on the graph) which equates to Level 4, the accreditation standard, on the original Self Assessment Framework.

Data has been included for Element 2 (Multiple Sources of Feedback), Element 4 (Quality Professional Development) and Element 5 (Belief in P&D Culture). Element 1 (Induction) and Element 3 (Customised Individual Development Plans) are not included as there was no significant correlation between the SOS and the relevant P&D Culture questionnaire items.

The SOS will be reviewed in 2009 and it is intended that changes will be made to include Element 1 (Induction) and Element 3 (Customised Individual Development Plans) in to the P&D Culture report in the SLR. The existing questions will be modified to more clearly reflect the post accreditation phase of P&D Culture. These changes will be included in the 2010 SOS report.

Accreditation for 2009

94% of schools from all regions of Victoria have achieved P&D Culture accreditation.

Minister Pike has approved the continuation of the accreditation process for 2009.  Schools not accredited in 2008 will be expected to complete the PDCQ and if the data indicates, proceed to application.
