This is a product that can be used by the school's Network Administrator to track, control, quota and charge printing and/or internet use. Administrators define a cost models, such as a cost-per-page for printing, or in the case of internet use, a cost per megabyte or time unit. Usage is then calculated and a corresponding amount deducted from the student/staff's allowance. The software can be used in a number of modes, including:

  • Quota or budget use (e.g. $10.00 per month)
  • Charge students via an up-front or pay-as-you-go model
  • Silently monitor usage

PaperCut also includes tools to streamline student payment process and account management, including simple web browser based administration, and wizards to design a set of TopUp Cards used throughout the school.

PaperCut is popular in secondary schools and becoming increasingly using in primary schools to control class printing budgets.

PaperCut is an Australian developed solution first released in 1999 and designed in conjunction with a number of Melbourne schools. PaperCut now translated into seven languages and used in over 60 countries throughout the world. Victorian schools still work closely with PaperCut to assist with pioneering innovative new features such as TopUp cards introduced in 2004. The developers all attended Victorian state schools and are always happy to assist the system with free support and special pricing.
