Microsoft Licensing Agreements

The Department has entered into three year licensing agreements (2010 - 2012) with Microsoft and with a Microsoft-authorised Large Account Reseller. This means that schools and Department offices can use the Microsoft software covered under these agreements free of additional licensing costs. Media used to install the software needs to be purchased from the Department’s Microsoft software supplier (see below).

The agreements covers software that is available (under varying terms and conditions) to:

• DEECD Schools, Agencies and Business offices
• DEECD staff for 'Work at Home' purposes
• DEECD students 

Software Resources

The Department's agreement with Microsoft provides access to customisable curriculum, software downloads, professional-level developer and design tools for students and educators through these teaching and learning resources.

Supplier

The Department has entered into an agreement with a Microsoft-authorised Large Account Reseller, Insight Enterprises Australia Pty Ltd (Insight), for the supply and distribution of Microsoft products to schools.

Terms and conditions

Terms and conditions governing the use of Microsoft software are included under the Department’s agreements with Microsoft. Users are responsible for acquiring individual licenses for software that is not included under these agreements.
All software must be used in accordance with the Copyright Act 1968, the Department's Software - Licensing and Copyright Policy and Microsoft’s Product Use Rights policy (http://www.microsoftvolumelicensing.com/userights/default.aspx).
