Information on Software Licensing Arrangements

The Department of Education has entered into a number of licensing arrangements which cover software used in Victorian schools and business offices of the Department.

The following software licensing agreements are currently in place:

• Microsoft software
• Antivirus software (Symantec)
• Apple software (Operating System and iLife)

The Department also maintains the Software for Education (S4E) program through which software that is widely used in schools is made available to Victorian educational institutions (Government, Independent and Catholic Schools) at discounted prices.

The use of all software must be in accordance with the Copyright Act as well as the terms of the software license. The Department's Licensing and Copyright Policy provides more information.
