Apple software for schools

The Department has entered into a three year Volume Licensing Agreement with Apple Australia, which provides schools with licensing for the Mac operating system (OS) and iLife software. The agreement expires on 31 August 2012.

The Agreement covers Department owned desktop and notebook computers in schools for all previous, current and future releases of the software during the term of the agreement.

When any major application revisions occur, Apple will publish media kits containing:

  1. The current authorised Mac OS image
  2. The current iLife software
  3. A matrix listing the minimum specifications for Apple desktops and notebooks capable of running the software (eligible computers).

Media kits will be provided free of charge and will be distributed by the Department to TSSP technicians for use in schools.

Notebook computers that are supplied under the Notebooks for Teachers and Principals Program (NTPP) are not impacted by this agreement as they are covered under a separate arrangement.
