Symantec Antivirus software
The Department has entered into a licensing agreement with Insight Enterprises Australia Pty Ltd for the provision of Symantec Antivirus software to:
- Victorian government schools
- CASES Training and Resource Centres
- business offices of the Department including those in regional locations
- various Department, Statutory Boards and bodies.
- staff & students of the above organisation.
This agreement commences on 24th August 2008 and ends on 25th August 2011. The Department also has the option to extend this agreement for a further two years.
The agreement covers the following software:
- Symantec End point Protection (includes Anti Virus Enterprise Edition for MS Windows, Antispyware, Firewall, Intrusion prevention and device control)
- Premium Anti Spam (for MS Exchange & Domino)
- Mail Security for MS Exchange & Domino
- 8300 Virtual Appliance Anti Virus and Anti Spam
- Symantec Antivirus (MAC edition)
- Symantec Antivirus (Linux edition)

Symantec Anti-Virus for Staff & Students
As part of the Department’s Anti-Virus agreement staff and students are permitted to install a copy of Symantec Corporate Edition for Desktops on their home computer. Staff and students should follow the guidelines below to obtain a copy of the software:
- Staff and students based in a school or regional office should request a copy of the software from their technician who will provide the software on CD or DVD for home installation.
- Staff in the central office should go to the following website and download the file which can then be put onto a CD or DVD for home installation (note that staff PIN and password is needed to access this file):
